IS IT OKAY FOR A CHRISTIAN TO HAVE TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS?

Do you have any tattoos or piercings or maybe want to get your first one? Many Christians are curious about this question. In this post we will search for the answer.

Let's take a look at what the bible says about tattoos and piercings:

Leviticus 19:28
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

From the above verses it is concluded that God is against tattoos and piercings.
With tattoos this may be more obvious. Tattoos can be harmful and lead to various diseases and infections when done incorrectly. Technically when getting a tattoo you are doing small harm to your body. Not to mention that you put your body to the risk of infections. Your body is a gift from God and in the Bible it is called the temple of the holy spirit. If we follow Leviticus 19:28 it can be concluded that as a Christian you should not get tattoos.

What if I already have tattoos?
Maybe you didn't know better and, well, we all have a past. Maybe you even have religious tattoos like Jesus, etc. If you have any tattoos you do not need to be afraid that God will reject you. Simply repent and refrain from getting any new needlework done in the future.

What about piercings?
Well if we are talking about a little earring or nosering you probably do not have a lot to worry about. However, if you overdo it to the point where it can actually harm your body, as a Christian it is advised to refrain from. I have included a couple of extreme examples in the following images.

In those examples you can see that implants have been made to shape horns and cheekbones. Holes have been made into the ears, nose, etc, and then expanded into a gaping hole. Here we can without a doubt see how we are not supposed to wear piercings according to the Bible.

Taking a look at tattoo parlors and piercing studios they are oftentimes decorated with occult symbolism and just give off a dark atmosphere. This may help to further answer if it is okay for Christians to get tattoos or piercings.

Hopefully this post could shed a little light for you and answer your question about tattoos and piercings. When in doubt always take the safe road!
God bless you and keep you safe!
